Street Car Named Desire

Street Car Named Desire is an excellent movie which was directed for Elia Kazan, and was written for Tennessee William. Talking about this movie is to talk about Marlon Brandon who split the history of the performance in two. His character was very natural, which was a new way of playing a character; furthermore, we can see how the other actors play rather like stage actors.

This movie show how looked one side of the New Orleans society in early 1950’s.This film illustrates to us an small part of New Orleans; however, I saw a crowded city in which men go to the factories and women stay at home taking care of kids. Also, we can note that New Orleans’ society had a hard system of rules for women. In conclusion, at that time there was not relationships between men and women. It was a relationship between men and objects. A woman in 1950’s had to look for a man in order to survive.

This movie talks about distractive love, relationship between men and woman, and men’s role and woman’s role in the earliest 1950.

  1. Hi Jaime,

Nice job of parsing the movie--it's true that "Streetcar" presents a rather bleak picture for women in the part of 1950s New Orleans. Blanche finds herself in a predicament that would be hard to understand today, although I suppose in places it still exists.

  2. Hi jamie:
You talked about the fact of the movie and what you think about the movie. I agree with you. I think that this movie is a good way to show the relationship between men and women, furthermore, we can see the reflection of the social form at that time.

  3. Hi Jaime
I really appreacite about what you said that the movie reflected well for expressing the men and women living in that special time. It seemed like that people make an abyss for persuing some kind of unconcious love. Techniquely,They played well for every single part, so tired of tears by Blanche that she was easily and entirely controled by the crule realistic. It can be seen clearly that what a sadness consequency putting on the end. We can know the society well from your blog

  4. HI Jamie,

I totally agree at that time woman's right were not equal to the man's. I think it was unfair. Since the movment of the "women right"
our society had changed a lot, women can properly get the same chance as man get.
    That's great~isn't it?

  5. As a reflection, we can make a comparison between women’s role in the past century and women’s role nowadays. It has not been an easy way to women to get the rights they have now. I would like invite you to read about Margaret Sanger and Katharine Dexter McCormick, two women who worked very hard for the women rights.

  6. Hi jaime, we agree in several thoughts about the movie, but I guess the biggest coincidence is about Brandon's opinion. He really is a good actor, and also I like almost all the movies that I've seen with his acting.
